Numerous North Dakota Area Roads Are Now Closed Due To Flooding
Numerous area roads in Burleigh County are now partially closed due to flooding.
After a solid week of melting across the Capital Region, the snow pack has all but disappeared. I know we have no snow remaining in my yard south of Lincoln, and the puddles have begun to form.
The same is true for creeks and ditches across the area; as the remaining snow pack melts and the water rises, stretches of road have begun to be inundated. Especially roads that cross creeks or waterways.
Here's a look at areas marked in RED that have closed sections of roads in Burleigh County as of Friday, February 28th at 11 am.
Closed sections of roads include those near Moffit and Long Lake. Also, near the town of Baldwin, North Dakota. 136th Avenue Northeast from 19450 136th Avenue Northeast to 210th Streen Northeast. Another closed section of road at 184th Street Northeast due to flooding.

The melt should slow down in North Dakota today and Saturday as an Alberta Clipper cools down temperatures. Another round of 40s or 50s is expected on Sunday and Monday, before we cool back to high temps in the 30s for the rest of next week.
Signs are pointing to another warm-up for the weekend (March 8th and 9th), according to the National Weather Service, as temps rise into the upper 40s or 50s.
If we can avoid any March snowstorms or blizzards, we might just be headed for a very early spring in North Dakota with our lack of snow cover.
You are reminded that you should never try to drive through a flooded road as even a foot of rushing water can carry away a small car, according to the National Weather Service.
