North Dakota "Nice" is definitely a thing.

You would be hard-pressed to find nicer people all over the United States.  Even a friend of mine this past weekend was commenting that people in North Dakota will wave at you for no reason when driving down a country road.

I actually think that is a North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Montana thing, as I've witnessed people in all of those states waving at strangers on the road.

I recently told someone who wasn't familiar with North Dakotans, that I know if I ever break down on the side of the road somewhere, I know it wouldn't take long for somebody to pull up behind me to lend a hand.  It's happened to me several times over the years.

With that being said, we do have our cities and people who occasionally have their noses up in the air.

I recently had a conversation on-air with our listeners, "Which city in North Dakota do you feel is the snobbiest?"  I took in over a hundred calls, plus I had people comment on our social media pages, and on our app.

After the dust had cleared I had over 500 answers to tabulate, and the number one response was overwhelming.  It wasn't even close.

One city in North Dakota needs an attitude adjustment, that's for sure.

More on that city in a moment. Just about all of the major cities in North Dakota were mentioned as the "Snobbiest" (Minot, Grand Forks, Jamestown, Williston, and even Bismarck).

One comment from one of my listeners that I found interesting on our Facebook page.  Here's what she had to say about "small towns".

I guess I have heard this before.  I was born and raised in Grand Forks, and the small town to the south of us, Thompson had the reputation as not friendly to outsiders.  I even know of a family that had to move away from that town because their kids were treated so poorly at school and around town.

Other small towns like Beulah, Watford City (not so small anymore), Hettinger, Washburn, and Center were all mentioned as "snobby".

Drumroll, please...The "Snobbiest" city in all of North Dakota with hundreds of votes is none other than FARGO!

Plenty of comments about Fargo from our listeners. Many people consider them a little "Minneapolis wannabe".  That doesn't sit well with a lot of people, especially Bismarck area residents.

Now, keep in mind there are plenty of good people who live in Fargo, but with so many people pointing them out as the "snobbiest", there has to be something to it.

I guess no matter how snobby Fargo might be, the majority of people in the West still love their Bison.

Oh yeah, it's NDSU & UND week.  Go Fighting Hawks!  Sorry, that's where I went to school.
