I've always had a soft spot for Burger King or "BK" as we like to call it.

It was my first real job as a 15-year-old kid back at the Burger King in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  I started out on the fry machine, then on to the broiler, and burger board.

One of the Managers at the time said you have a good voice (I was in kind of disbelief).  It wasn't long after that I never had to put on an apron again, and I was on the mic in the drive-thru.  True story, Burger King indirectly put me on a path to becoming a radio DJ. Ha!

Over the years, Burger King has always been my fast food of choice.

Although I rarely eat fast food these days as I'm trying to stay in my size 32 waste line, I still find myself craving a Burger King grilled bacon cheeseburger from time to time. If you're like me, your choices across North Dakota are shrinking.

Fargo, North Dakota has lost 3 Burger King restaurants.

According to a story on WDAY TV in Fargo, 70 of Meridian's 91 remaining Burger Kings were purchased by Burger King or other franchise companies in a September 19th auction, according to U.S. Bankruptcy Court documents in Utah.  Meridian and its subsidiaries were given permission to close the remaining 21 stores.

The 3 stores closing in Fargo are as follows:

The Burger King at 1212 36th Street South near West Acres Mall (this store closed on September 26th).

The Burger King at 1333 19th Avenue North near the Fargodome.

The Burger King at 2253 South University Drive.

It appears that Bismarck has also lost one of its Burger Kings due to the bankruptcy too.

The BK at 3102 Yorktown Drive is currently closed.  It's listed online as permanently closed.

There's also the possibility of other Burger King closures across the state.
