A Snowstorm Measured In Feet Looming For North Dakota?
Rumors Concerning a Big Snowstorm for North Dakota this Coming Week?
There was talk of a potential Colorado Low producing a snowstorm for the Northern Plains early this week (the week of 2-9-26). Even our local meteorologists jumped on the bandwagon for that one. It appears to be a swing and miss, as that system is expected to stay south of North Dakota and will likely give us only light precipitation, if any at all.
However, another system to follow, which I have been keeping an eye on now for a couple of weeks, appears to be more likely. Now, I'm just a weather nerd, and not a meteorologist, but I do tend to be more accurate at least 20% of the time than the so-called professionals. I know, that's not saying much.
A BIGGER, more Powerful System the Week of 2-16-26
Over the last few days, the different weather agencies that I follow have been showing long-range weather models with at least the possibility of a significant snowstorm for North Dakota. If there's one thing I have learned in life, where there is smoke, there's usually fire.
Even one of the most respected weather agencies in the Capital Region (The Bismarck Bubble) is showing the risk for heavy snow during that time period.
Again, the above post is NOT a forecast, but is showing the possibility of a pattern shift, and North Dakota might finally see a real Colorado Low "plowable" snowstorm. I personally haven't used my snowblower in 2 years. You might want to fire yours up just in case. Despite the non-stop flocks of geese migrating north the last couple of days over Bismarck, I have a feeling winter is not done yet.
