Jeff Gordon Gay Hoax Tweaks NASCAR Fans

A lot of NACAR fans are angry about the fake "Jeff Gordon is coming out" story - but not necessarily for the reason you suspect.

The story - traced to a "satirical" site called Empire Sports - reports that Gordon is preparing to "come out" and announce that he is in a relationship with openly gay athlete Stephen Rhodes.

The story is a hoax, but some NASCAR fans are angry.  Not so much about the story itself, but about how the article appears to pain the fans as intolerant bigots.
