Former Vice President Joe Biden has gone on the record in favor of the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

As the New York Times reported this week, it was the first time Mr. Biden has come out in favor of impeachment, though he did earlier endorse a congressional inquiry.

“To preserve our Constitution, our democracy, our basic integrity, he should be impeached,” the ex-Veep said in a Wednesday address.

As the Times notes, Mr. Biden's comments follow a period where the president attacked him repeatedly, and his own status in the polls has dropped. Once considered a shoo-in for the nomination by many in his party,  Mr. Biden has recently fallen behind Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren in many national and regional polls.

Even before the Biden speech was over, the president had weighed in on Twitter, claiming the Biden family had “ripped off at least two countries for millions of dollars.”
