Mandan Cocktail Bar Makes U.S.A. Top Ten
A modest cocktail bar in downtown Mandan has made a national list of top watering holes in the nation.
An article in USA Today lists Thomas & Moriarity's as among the "Top 10 cocktail bars," as rated by famed mixologist Kate Gerwin.
Ms. Gerwin is renowned as a world-class bartender and restaurant consultant. Recently she helped establish HSL Hospitality, a group of upscale cocktail bars and restaurants in Bismarck.
Opened just two years ago, Thomas & Moriarity's serves a variety of sophisticated cocktails in a Prohibition-era atmosphere.
Co-owner Michael Kashey (pictured above) considers himself a "professor" of mixology, serving up a wide selection of "craft cocktails," as well as absinthe and vintage beer. Meat and cheese trays and non-alcoholic beverages (such as New York-style egg creams) are also available.
An Army vet, Michael Kashey operates the bar with his partner, broadcaster (and Townsquare Media alumnus) Stacy Sturm. Mr. Kashey is taking his new-found fame in good humor, promising it will not "go to his head."
