Mandan Public Schools opened for their first day of school on Wednesday, and there are more students occupying desks this year with an almost triple new student enrolment. 

According to a press release from the Mandan Public Schools, the increase in student population was across the board.

The first day of school showed an increase of  208 students in grades PreK-12 from the prior year. This reflects a 5.6% increase.

Mandan elementary schools showed an increase of 107 students in grades K-5. Total headcount is 1,832 students.

Mandan Middle School grades 6-8 had an increase of 77 students for a total of 954 students.

Mandan High School had an increase of 17 students in grades 9-12, for a total of 1,074 students.

The Senior class has 228 students and the Kindergarten class, which is the largest class, has 363 students.

The school system also had an increase in educators with the addition of 9 teachers and 1 1/2 administrators for the 2018-19 school year.

Last year, Mandan had an increase of 89 students. on the first day.
