BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — An official says Gov. Jack Dalrymple intends to name a new state tax commissioner in November to serve the remainder of current commissioner Cory Fong's term.

Fong announced Tuesday he will resign at the end of the year to work for a Bismarck-based advertising agency.

The Dickinson Press reports that Dalrymple has directed Lt. Gov. Drew Wrigley to gather letters of interest for the position and oversee the appointment process.

Jeff Zent, a spokesman for the governor, says Wrigley will assist in vetting the candidates, and Dalrymple will interview a small group of finalists.
