ND Inmate Dies From Suicide Attempt

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Morton County Detention Center inmate jailed for a probation violation and failure to register as a sex offender has died of his injuries suffered in a suicide attempt.

Morton County Sheriff Dave Shipman tells the Bismarck Tribune Jon Nadeau attempted suicide by hanging on Oct. 25. The sheriff says Nadeau died Monday, after his family removed him from life support at a local hospital.

Shipman says Nadeau had been an inmate at the jail since September.

Shipman says it was the jail's first death since it opened in 1986.
