Three people reportedly died in the crash of an air ambulance Sunday near Mandan.

The Bismarck Tribune reports a recovery party consisting of Morton deputy sheriffs, Civil Air patrol and an Air Force rescue team found the site of the crash around two AM Monday.

A county spokesperson says the crash happened about 15 - 20 miles northwest of Mandan.

A press release from CHI/St. Alexius says the plane was en route to Williston to assist in a patient transport. On board were the pilot, a paramedic and a registered nurse.

St. Alexius issued a statement:

“It is a sad day here for both of our organizations. We are grieving for the family members of those who were on board.

"The names of the individuals are not being released until families are notified. We are focused on supporting the families and associates from both organizations. We ask for your prayers and support at this very difficult time for all."
