Other Plants & Vegetables Toxic To Dogs

Here are some other surprising plants that are toxic to dogs.

  • Garlic, chives, onions -- dogs can't digest them like humans
  • Rhubarb - According to DocuPet, rhubarb leaves contain high levels of oxalic acid. This can cause kidney damage to your pets.
  • Tomato Plants - An actual tomato won't harm your dog, according to the source, but the plant it grows on can be toxic.
  • Grapes, Raisins, and Currents - It's a mystery as to what chemical(s) make animals sick from eating grapes/raisins, but they can cause pretty serious side effects.

There You Have It

Those are six dangerous plants you will want to keep your furry friend away from this summer.

Remember: before you pick up some new plants from the store, look up the dangers it could bring into your home.

If your dog ingests any of the above listed plants, again, I'd contact a veterinarian as soon as possible.

There are many other dangerous plants out there, so make sure you do your research. Here's a list provided by Chewy.com.
