North Dakota’s Overall Heath Rating Had Fallen
We're not as healthy as we used to be according to America's Health Rankings annual report for 2017.
As a matter of fact, the state has dropped 7 slots to an overall ranking of 18th in the country.
The reasons for the fall, according to the survey are our habits and behaviors such as excessive drinking, the rise in tobacco use (chew and smoking). Smoking has increased 5.9% from 18.7% to 19.8%.
And to add more damage, we're fatter! Since 2016, obesity has increased 2.9% from 31.0% TO 31.9%.
Deaths from drugs have also been on the incline from 2016, an increase of 42.5% from 4.0 TO 5.7.
When it comes to exercise, our overall physical activity is down which also adds to the poor rating in health for the state.
On the positive side, the overall ranking of uninsured North Dakotans is down with more healthcare insurance options available to the general public.
