This was a first for the Bismarck Police Department over the weekend, according to KFYR-TV.

The call was for sheep being slaughtered outside an apartment complex as part of a religious act from a couple, new to Bismarck and this country.

Bismarck Police responded to the scene along with animal control to the 2500 block of North Eighth. The slaughter was taking place in the parking area for the complex. No charges were filed but the PD is now asking the city attorney for a legal opinion in regards to the incident being this is a first for the city of Bismarck.

No criminal charges have been filed, and no arrests were made.

Eid al-Adha, was on September 1st and is a Muslim holiday. It is a day with prayer and the sacrifice of animals.
