‘Pink Slime’ Goes On Trial
The much-anticipated 'Pink Slime' trial opened this week in South Dakota. The Hollywood Reporter says attorneys in the billion-dollar case made their respective opening statements Monday.
Beef Products Inc. sued ABC in 2012. The company says the television network's news coverage about the company misled consumers into believing the product (called "lean finely textured beef" (LFTB) and dubbed “pink slime” by critics) is unsafe.
The initial report on the product was broadcast in March, 2012 and anchored by Diane Sawyer.
