Quiet Zone Development Moves Forward
The Bismarck City Commission approved an agreement with BNSF Tuesday to develop "quiet zones" for three grade crossings in the city.
The Bismarck Tribune reports the five commissioners approved the measure unanimously pending review by engineers and legal staff.
The railway expected to hire contractors to modify the crossings. Once completed, the use of train horns will cease.
The development of the quiet zones has been a long-time project of the Bismarck Downtowners, heard monthly on SuperTalk 1270.
