Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek was treated by medics after falling offstage at the Oscars ceremony last night.

He was said to have avoided a serious injury after he took a misstep as he left the stage with his Best Actor award – one of four Oscars gathered by the Queen biopic at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

People reported that Malek “tumbled off the Oscars stage into the audience area after the ceremony had concluded. The star did his best to hold on his Best Actor statue aloft. Hitting the ground, Malek looked surprised and was helped up by those around him.”

After being seated in the front row for preliminary checks by paramedics, he was then taken to a backstage area where further examinations took place. However, there were no exterior signs of any injury when he spoke to the press afterward.

“The one thing I can say about this, as an actor, there are so many of us who dream of one thing. Perhaps it’s not this, it’s just getting a job,” Malek said of his win. “The fact that I have this is beyond any expectation that myself or my family could have ever had. … This has been a tough battle and the fact that I’m here is proof that anything is possible. Tonight I’m celebrating with all of you and anyone who has had a dream.”

In his acceptance speech, Malek notes they "made a film about a gay man, an immigrant, who lived his life just unapologetically himself. The fact that I'm celebrating him and his story with you tonight is proof that we're longing for stories like this. I am the son of immigrants from Egypt, I'm a first-generation American, and part of my story is being written right now."

Along with the Best Actor Oscar, Bohemian Rhapsody also won Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Film Editing – more than any other movie in contention. However, if failed to win Best Movie, which went to Green Book.
