On Tuesday, KFYR TV reported that the Sertoma Club will no longer do Christmas in the Park in Bismarck.

According to KFYR:

Club President Chris Whalen says the lighted Christmas-themed displays has been a wonderful fundraiser, but it's time to move on.

Hang on a second. What does that even mean? It's time to move on? Move on from what? Christmas? Who moves on from Christmas?!

That has to be the worst statement ever made. Say that the event is losing money. Say the lights exploded. Say the lights went to a farm upstate. But it's time to move on? I feel like there's more to that sentence.

How can an actual functioning human being, and contributing member of our society, who is in charge of a Christmas light show that has been a staple in the community for over two decades just say, "it's time to move on."

You can't just say, "Christmas is canceled," drop, the mic, and then leave! There has to be more to this story!

I'm Jewish, and even I haven't moved on from Christmas. This is a sad day in Bismarck.
