FORT TOTTEN, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a device that prompted the evacuation of the college on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation appears to have been a homemade weight, not an explosive.

Cankdeska Cikana Community College in Fort Totten was evacuated Tuesday afternoon after a custodian found the pipe-resembling object in a weight room. About 200 students were on campus at the time registering for classes, which begin Monday.

A police bomb squad was brought in from Grand Forks to blow up the device as a precaution.
