Expect strong gusty Southeast winds as a system moves through the area, according to The National Weather Service in Bismarck. This is the same system bring tornados and severe weather to the Midwest and South US.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) along with the North Dakota Highway Patrol have CLOSED I-94 from Bismarck to Jamestown due to high winds causing areas of zero visibility and hazardous travel conditions. Motorists who drive past a road closure device may be fined up to $250.
The NWS has issued a wind advisory, effective from 10am Friday through 4am Saturday. According to the advisory, the area can expect strong winds from 30 to 50 mph.
