When Is Mosquito Season?
Well, that depends on where you live.
According to Terminix, mosquito season in North Dakota (The Midwest) is between April and September every year.
If you were to live on the Gulf Coast, in Florida, or in Hawaii, your mosquito season would be much earlier and last a lot longer.
According to the source, mosquito season in those areas is between February and November. -- So, basically, all year.
Mosquitos typically thrive at 70 degrees but come out to suck your blood once it hits about 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
How To Keep Them Away
Terminix suggests doing a couple of things to help keep these pests from snacking on you.
- Eliminate standing water - Mosquitos breed in and near standing water. Swimming pools, bird baths, dog water dishes, and gutters could be where they decide to lay eggs.
- Avoid Peak Hours - Mosquitos are most active at dawn and dusk, so if you have to be outside at those times, wear pants and long sleeves.
