MEDORA, N.D. (AP) — Theodore Roosevelt National Park in western North Dakota is hosting a three-day astronomy festival.

The park says astronomers, rangers, educators and others will gather Friday through Sunday for the event dubbed Dakota Nights.

Park Superintendent Valerie Naylor says many people don't have the opportunity to see stars because of light pollution in urban areas, and she's excited about the event. Participants will use 10 telescopes to stargaze. There also will be other events such as rocket building and launching.

There is no charge for the festival, and admission to the park is being waived on Saturday in celebration of National Public Lands Day.
