Two ND Men Who Faced The ‘Night Stalker’ And Lived Unite

This is a story I can't even begin to TRY and relate to

Netflix and Hulu are just two of many streaming services that thrive off bringing you documentaries, crime series, and such of heinous monsters who went on killing sprees. These shows are popular for several reasons, one is the fascination of attempting to get into the mind of a serial killer, to somehow see what most of these demons have in common - a thirst for terror. Watching and listening to the horrific details kind of compares to driving by an accident on the road, you want to look away but you just can't.

He was one of the most feared serial killers you will ever come across

Richard Ramirez - The Night Stalker. Just the mention of his name brings back so many memories of people living in fear back in the '80s. I lived in San Diego, California, which was fairly close to Los Angeles, where he struck the most. Killing people with no motive whatsoever. The lives of two men from North Dakota were intertwined with this maniac - James Romero and Bill Carns - living fairly close to each other in the suburbs of LA. There was an enormous sense of relief when Ramirez was finally caught and brought to justice  ( thanks to Romero ) and according to wikipedia.org  " In 1989, Ramirez was convicted of thirteen counts of murder, five attempted murders, eleven sexual assaults, and fourteen burglaries" James was only 13 years old when he identified ( from his own backyard ) part of the killer's license plate, which helped the police track him down. The other North Dakotan living out there at the time was Bill Carns, who became the Night Stalker's last attempt at another killing, Bill survived three gunshots to the head.

They shake hands and smile at each other. This is the first time they’ve ever met but the connection runs deep" It is with certainty that I say I would never ever be able to get the image of someone who so resembled the devil out of my mind. What brought these two together is unimaginable, so beyond the realm of evil, and yet these native North Dakotans survived, and bond that will stay with them forever.
