United Tribes President Has New Position

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The longtime president of United Tribes Technical College is moving into a new position.

The Bismarck school run by North Dakota tribes says David Gipp has been named chancellor, a position in which he will focus on securing the school's financial future.

Gipp has been president and CEO of the school for nearly four decades and has developed a reputation for being a national advocate for tribal colleges. He says he's looking forward to the new challenge at United Tribes.

College vice president Phil Baird has been named interim president.

The school is run by the Sisseton-Wahpeton, Spirit Lake, Standing Rock, Three Affiliated and Turtle Mountain tribes. It has a branch facility in Rapid City, S.D., called the Black Hills Learning Center.
