Dickinson's newest water tower is 78 feet too tall and must be reconstructed.

Recently, representatives from the engineering firm KLJ told city commissioners that the newly built water tower in Dickinson, that it must be shortened. The water tower was built to a height of 150 feet, but is 78 feet taller than what is needed. The error occurred early on in the construction process.

After debating a number of options to fix the mistake, the city of Dickinson approved a change order that would allow KLJ to reconstruct the tower to the new height of 72 feet. The original height the tower was built for was based on specifications from the wrong city water zone.

KLJ was also asked by the city of Dickinson to review other city projects it had been working on to ensure there are no other engineering flaws.
