A well-known protest song performed at yesterday's Concert for Valor has some critics clucking.

The performance of Fortunate Son by Bruce Springsteen with Dave Grohl and the Zac Brown Band at Tuesday's Washington, DC concert, generated some heat on social media from critics who question the appropriacy of the song.

The Washington Post reports many objected in particular to the third verse, and the phrase, "I'm no military son."

On the other side, defenders of the song said it was an attack on hypocrisy and militarism.

Fortunate Son was written former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty, who called it an attack on "income inequality and unblinking patriotism."
