Be Safe on the North Dakota Roads for the 4th
More deaths on American roads occur on July 4th than any other day of the year by a wide margin.
As previously reported, this year's July 4th will set a record for traveling Americans. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 35 percent more deaths will occur on the roads during Independence Day than any other day of the year.
The statistic is pretty alarming considering how much higher that percentage is than any other day of the year. Of course, 4th of July is one of the most popular partying days of the year. Just by following safety tips, you could be saving yourself from harm, or someone else.
- Please drive sober or use a designated driver. Bismarck-Mandan also has Lyft, Uber, and taxi services as transportation options.
- Look out for motorcycles. With the weather as warm as it is, it's the perfect time for the motorcycles to be out on the roads and can be tougher to see at times. As for riders, please wear a helmet.
- Don't drive fatigued. If you're feeling tired, it can have similar effects to being under the influence while driving.
These are just a few tips that may sound very basic or common sense, but holidays are especially the time to focus on taking necessary precautions.
Enjoy your holiday, but more importantly, stay safe on the roads this 4th of July!
