Bismarck Parks and Recreation is a Finalist for National Award
Four finalists were named to potentially win the 2016 National Gold Medal award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management, and Bismarck Parks and Rec were one of the finalists.
The Gold Medal award is given out to cities with populations ranging from 30,000 and 75,000. The honor recognizes the tremendous work done by parks and recreations throughout the nation. The Bismarck Parks and Recreation Department has won the award once, back in 1993. They were also a finalist for the award in 1991, 1992, and 1999.
The award ended up going to Wiamalene Park and Recreation District of Springfield, OR. The other two finalists were the Decatur, IL Park District and Olympics Parks, Arts and Recreation of Olympia, WA.
Where was Leslie Knope when we needed her? Congrats on being recognized as a finalist, Bismarck Parks and Rec Department!
