Can You Guess What Is The Most Popular Truck In North Dakota
I proudly drive a Ford F-150 pick-up truck.
As I drive around Bismarck Mandan it seems like to me more people drive Ford F-150's than any other truck 2 to 1. It also seems like the majority of people in Bismarck Mandan have the same color F-150 (BRIGHT BLUE) as I do. It makes it a challenge to find my truck sometimes when I look for it in parking lots around town.
Now, I haven't always been a Ford F-150 guy.
In fact, this is the first Ford truck I've ever owned. I'm pretty sure it won't be the last, as I really the technology that comes with Ford vehicles.
I was chatting with my co-worker Steve Bakken about trucks in North Dakota, and we came to some common agreements. You really almost have to break the state into three areas when it comes to the popularity of trucks. In eastern North Dakota, more people drive Chevy Silverado. I was one of them when I lived in eastern North Dakota. Central North Dakota more people drive Ford F-150's. In western North Dakota, it's Ram country, and according to a new study in iSeeCars that seems to be true.
iSeeCars just did a study based on vehicle sales based on 12.9 million vehicles both new and used at all 50 states across the United States. The Ford F-150 remains the top-selling truck in America for an incredible 39 straight years.
However, the Ford F-150 is NOT the number one truck in North Dakota when it comes to NEW vehicles sold.
The Ram pick-up 1500 is number one in NoDak with 8.2% of the vehicles sold. The most popular used truck sold in North Dakota is the Ford F-150 with 6.1 percent of vehicles sold in the state. Kind of a surprise to me. I think it's safe to say that Ram is very popular with the farming and ranching community.
So, how about the states around us?
The most popular new and used in Minnesota is the Ford F-150. In South Dakota, the most popular new truck is the GMC Sierra 1500, and used is the Ford F-150. Montana also loves its new Ford F-150's and the F-150 is also the most popular used truck.
