Police in Colorado have called off a search for a "Columbine-obsessed" woman" after finding her dead, apparently by suicide.

The Denver Post reports investigator found the body of 18 year-old Sol Pais off a trail near Mount Evans in Clear Creek County. Police found a pump-action shotgun nearby.

Police speculate she killed herself with a shotgun blast to the head.

A spokesman said the Florida woman had arrived in Colorado on Wednesday, and purchased the shotgun.

Authorities had considered the woman "armed and dangerous" due to her obsession to the 1999 Columbine massacre in Colorado. Her presence in Colorado triggered the closing of hundreds of schools as a precaution.

The Post reports Ms. Pais had made threats related to the Columbine incident and had posted her thoughts about the massacre on social media.

April 20 marks the 20th anniversary of the massacre at a Littleton, Colorado school in which two students shot and killed 12 of their classmates and a teacher.
