An apartment building in Bismarck known for renting to sex offenders may be sold and converted into a "market-rate" complex.

This is not good.

The Tribune reported a few days ago that Grandma's House may give way soon to a market-rate apartment complex and restaurant for the downtown area.

It's private property; they can do what they want with it.  But I see a problem.

As fashionable as it may be to write of SOs in our society, the fact is they have to live somewhere.

Far from coddling them, we seem to be going out of our way to make it as difficult as possible to get on with their lives once out of the "system."

If you're among the "stop coddling the SOs" crowd, ask yourself: if it really a good idea to turn them out on the street to fend for themselves?  That, in effect is what we seem to be doing.

Your comments, as always, welcomed and appreciated.
