The defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos used a fifth round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft on guard Connor McGovern, who is originally from North Dakota.

McGovern, considered one of the strongest players in this year's NFL Draft according to NFL.com, played his high school ball at Fargo Shanley before committing to the University of Missouri. McGovern was the Gatorade High School Player of the Year in North Dakota in 2010.

McGovern was a three-year starter at Mizzou, spending time at right guard, right tackle, and left tackle.

Projected as a third round pick, McGovern had to wait a while to hear his name called, but one can only assume that he's very excited about joining a team that just won the Super Bowl a few months ago.

McGovern expressed his excitement to join the Broncos on Twitter:

McGovern was the second player from North Dakota to hear his name called during this year's NFL Draft, after Bismarck's Carson Wentz went second overall to the Philadelphia Eagles.
