There are avid football fans all across the country that look forward to three days of rooting for their favorite team and begin fantasies of a future Super Bowl trophy! The National Football League held its annual draft days last week, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday - and the tense moments from fans in the audience to the players from all around the country waiting to hear their names called out are chalked full of drama. To practice and work hard your whole high school, and college career just to get a shot at trying out for the National Football league is the dream for so many, yet very few make it. Check out these stats from leagueside.com "There are 1,093,234 high school football players in the United States, and 6.5% of those high school players (or 71,060) will play in college. The drop-off from college to the pros is even more dramatic: only 1.2% of college-level players will get drafted to the NFL"

Minot State's Sebastin Gutierrez gets a "shot of a lifetime"

Minot State has had only two players in their school's history sign with an NFL team, Sebastin Gutierrez just made it three. The lineman who played 4 seasons with the Beavers signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent. This talented athlete has also played the role of a wide receiver and tight end. Kfyrtv.com reported that a determined Gutierrez had this to say “It’s a feeling that you can’t beat. It’s a sense of accomplishment, but the work’s not done. I still have a lot more to do,” - he also went on to give thanks to his coaches, teammates, and the whole city of Minot for supporting him. We will all keep our eyes on him in the fall as he tries to make the team.
