As much of the country prepares to celebrate Labor Day and the end of summer, residents of Florida are hunkering down for a major storm.
ABC News (updated) reports forecasters are calling Dorian, now at Category 5, a "life-threatening situation with extreme destruction."
The storm made landfall in the Bahamas Sunday (updated) and is now projected to skirt up the Eastern Seaboard impacting Georgia and the Carolinas.
The Miami Tribune, one of Florida's major newspapers, reported Sunday that the storm is packing sustained winds of over 150mph.
The Governor of Florida has declared a state of emergency for the region and authorities have issued evacuation orders for parts of the state. President Trump reportedly has cancelled an overseas trip to Eastern Europe while the administration watches the storm's progress from Camp David.
