Fargo Mayor Fails In Bid For Paid King Holiday

Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney's recommendation to give city employees a paid day off for Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday has fallen short of the required city commission voted.

KFGO Radio reports the vote ended in a 2-2 tie, with one commissioner absent.

Mahoney says racial tensions across the country were a factor in his suggestion of a paid holiday for workers.
