Carson Wentz isn't the only former North Dakota State star impressing his teammates at the next level.

Defensive back C.J. Smith went undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft, but he still landed an opportunity with the Philadelphia Eagles, who took Wentz with the second overall pick.

In an interview with PennLive.com, Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins heaped praise on Smith, saying the rookie is having 'a phenomenal camp.'

Unfortunately for Smith, though, impressing his teammates won't necessarily win him a spot on the Eagles' roster. The team already has a few defensive backs that are almost guaranteed to be on the team once the regular season rolls around, including veterans Leodis McKelvin and Nolan Carroll.

The Eagles also have another rookie defensive back on their roster, Jalen Mills, who the team spent a seventh round pick on.

Smith's next time to shine will be on Thursday, August 18th, in the Eagles' second preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
