FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Some schools in the Dakotas are closing early or shutting down due to hot weather.

Classes are canceled through Wednesday at five elementary schools in Fargo, N.D., that are not fully air-conditioned. Superintendent Jeff Schatz says temperatures inside the buildings on Sunday ranged from 85-90 degrees.

Several schools in northern South Dakota are closing shortly after mid-day Monday.

National Weather Service forecasts for the week call for temperatures mainly in the 90s. Heat advisories have been posted for some areas in the two states.
