Hunters Urged to Support Hunger Drive

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — State wildlife officials are urging North Dakota deer and geese hunters to help the Sportsmen Against Hunger program this fall.

The charitable program raises money for the processing of donated deer and geese, and coordinates the distribution of ground venison and goose meat to food pantries across North Dakota. It's administered by Community Action Partnership, which serves low-income families.

North Dakota's Game and Fish Department says the program is accepting light goose breast meat for the first time this fall. Light geese include snow, blue and Ross's geese.

Canada goose meat is accepted during the early hunting season but not during the regular waterfowl season.
