We won't sugarcoat it - it's going to be a bit of a mess getting around Mandan this summer on the interstate.

The Bismarck Tribune reported this week that the interstate raea around the city is scheduled for an overhaul starting in June.

One Mandan city traffic engineer says the work will be comparable to the roadwork around Bismarck in 2017.

“Expect a lot of work on the interstate system. It’s going to result in some temporary traffic control, too,” he told the Tribune. “It will be fairly disruptive when it happens.”

The Mandan City Commission approved the budget amendment and cost participation and maintenance agreement for a portion of the North Dakota Department of Transportation project Tuesday.

The Tribune says the bulk of the project will be resurfacing the interstate system from the North Dakota Highway 25 Interchange west of Mandan to all three bridges — Grant Marsh, Veterans Memorial and Expressway.
