North Dakota Hospitals Rank Dead Last in New Report

The LeapFrog Group released its rankings for hospitals across the US for Fall 2016 and North Dakota did very poorly.

The grades are based on patient safety and the rankings base their results on safety breakdowns, patient injuries, accidents, infections and other data.

Each hospital is given a grade of A, B, C, D or F.

The rankings looked at six hospitals across the state of North Dakota and none of those hospitals received an A grade. North Dakota joins only Alaska, Delaware, and Washington D.C. as states with zero hospitals with an A grade.

Here's a look at the grades given to the North Dakota Hospitals

• Sanford Medical Center in Fargo - D
• Essential Health in Fargo - B
• Altru Health System in Grand Forks - B
• St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck - B
• Medcenter One (Sanford) in Bismarck - C
• Trinity Hospital in Minot - D

This report also contradicts a report from Health Grove earlier this year that said the two best hospitals in North Dakota are in Bismarck.

Based on the rankings from The LeapFrog Group, Bismarck does have one of the top hospitals with a B grade, but hospitals in Fargo and Grand Forks also received a B.

Hawaii was the state with the top ranked hospitals. Eight of the 12 hospitals graded in Hawaii received an A. The full state rankings can be seen here.
