Many North Dakotans think you need to travel far and wide to have a truly unique experience, but I've found that there are a ton of local businesses right here in Bismarck-Mandan that are fun and quirky.

In north Bismarck, there's a cute little spot not far from Cash Wise. Want a Dr. Pepper with coconut and peach cream? Want Cajun-flavored popcorn? This spot lets you use your imagination and elevate your favorite treat to a whole new level.

As a matter of fact, every time I go there, it's always busy with a line around the building. The people of Bismarck-Mandan love it so much that they're opening a second location in south Bismarck.

Dakota Cat Cafe

I'm sure you've heard of these cat cafes in other states. Did you know one recently opened up in Lincoln? Imagine sipping great local coffee while meeting some adorable adoptable cats. Not only is this a fun experience, but it also provides a valuable service to the community by placing these animals in loving homes.

Jomo House

This restaurant recently opened up in downtown Bismarck, and it's definitely fun and unique. Ever heard of a Hot Cheetos K-Dog? Yup, it's a corndog covered in Hot Cheetos and cheese. You want one now, don't you? I visited this spot a couple of months ago and can confirm they are delicious.

This restaurant has a cool look, and a one-of-a-kind menu.

Ugly Box Retail

Every Friday new merchandise is added to this store, and the people of Bismarck-Mandan line up outside the door waiting to find a hidden treasure. Electronics, toys, sporting accessories, makeup - you name it, they've got it. This is one of those places where you never know what you're going to get; it's like a shopping adventure.

Bismarck Break Room

Break rooms are popular all over the country, but did you know that we have one right here in Bismarck? You can go for a relaxing walk in the park on your day off, or you can smash the crap out of things you don't have to pay for. I don't know, but that sounds pretty satisfying to me.
