When are people going to learn?

From National Companies like Delta Airlines and Office Depot, to local people right here in North Dakota, fallout continues to grow over social media posts over Charlie Kirk's death.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, an unspecified number of Delta Airline employees have been suspended due to social media posts related to Charlie Kirk. Reportedly, a memo went out to employees from their CEO saying the social media posts went well beyond a respectful, healthy debate.

Delta joins a growing list of employers, including the NFL team the Carolina Panthers, TV news network MSNBC, and many others across the country, that have reportedly punished employees for allegedly posting agitating comments.

We've got a couple of examples of alleged inflammatory comments concerning Charlie Kirk's death right here in North Dakota.

One example comes from a city employee in Fargo. Here's that social media post.

The Mayor of Fargo, Tim Mahoney, says the city employee took down the profanity-filled post within minutes and regretted it later. According to the article on KVRR, it said that Mahoney said the city administrator will meet with Human Resources, HR will then make recommendations, and send those to the city commission.

Another North Dakota example comes to us from a teacher in Valley City.

According to an article on KVRR, a teacher at Valley City High School allegedly made a post on social media, calling Charlie Kirk a racist, transphobic, sexist, and more. He also wrote that he has no empathy for people like Kirk, only his children.

This post caused outrage among Valley City residents, with some residents calling for his termination, according to the article.

The temperature remains high in this country and our state after this truly sad event. We can only hope that some good comes from all of it, and people remember that a little compassion could go a long way.
