New Mega Millions Format: Will It Pay Off For North Dakotans?
Mega Millions just kicked off their new format, which promises bigger payouts for its players.
It's being advertised as the Mega Millions overhaul with bigger prizes at every level and has a built-in multiplier in every play. This new way of playing Mega Millions began this past Saturday, April 5th.
According to the North Dakota Lottery website, the Mega Millions Jackpots now start at $50 million dollars. You also now have 9 ways to win cash. Players also multiply non-jack pot prizes x2 to x10 on every play. You will also win a minimum of $10 dollars and up to $10 million on all non-jackpot prizes.
Of course, with bigger prizes, you have to drop more cash to play. The price of a Mega Millions ticket has increased from $2 to $5 dollars.
I checked out the North Dakota Lottery's Facebook page, and it appears some people are skeptical of the new format.
North Dakota lottery players probably should be a little skeptical in general.
Did you know that we are one of the few states that have NEVER had a jackpot winner in either the Mega Millions or the Power Ball? That almost seems statistically impossible.
The Mega Millions has been around since 2002, and here's a list of jackpot history winners. Not a soul from North Dakota.
The same goes with the Power Ball. It has been around a lot longer (since 1992), and North Dakota is one of only 4 states to never have a jackpot winner. Even South Dakota has had 3, Montana has had 4, and Minnesota has 22, which is the 3rd highest in the country.
Our biggest lottery winner ever in the history of the North Dakota lottery was $3 million dollars, and that happened back in 2016 with the Mega Millions
So, you're telling me there is a chance?!
