The Minnesota Vikings unveiled the throwback jerseys they intend to wear to open this season.

It's hard to believe it but the NFL season is fast approaching.  The Minnesota Vikings report to training camp in less than two weeks.  Minnesota is coming off one of the best regular seasons in the history of their team.

The Vikes won 13 games but had their usual exit in the playoffs.  One and done.

Minnesota is expected to be competitive in 2023-24 with their potentially explosive offense but little was done to improve their woeful defense.  Add in playing the first-place schedule this season, plus, an improved Detroit Lions team, and Minnesota will have their hands full if they expect to win back-to-back NFC North titles.

Like many NFL teams, Minnesota is trying to excite the fan base with nostalgia.

It was announced on the Minnesota Vikings Instagram page on Tuesday that Minnesota will wear their throwback jerseys as they open up the NFL season at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 10th.  Here's a look at those jerseys.

They're pretty reminiscent of the uniforms the Vikings wore in the 70s and 80s during the purple-people-eaters era.

I personally love them and hope they wear these uni's a couple more times during the regular season.

There's always something exciting about a new NFL season.  Optimism rules supreme even for a team that breaks your heart every year.  Despite that, I'll be dressed in my purple jersey for week one.  SKOL!
