Mardi Gras for Motorcycles- STURGIS

Every motorcyclist knows that if you're not in Sturgis this week, you're either busy, working or you're dreaming about the fun and shenanigans going on in South Dakota at Sturgis!

The hotel room rates are raised at over 100% this week and if you do not have a room or place to stay, you could possibly get something last minute but be prepared to pay MAJOR BUCKS!

This is the first year in a very long time that I do not attend the gathering because of obligations. I book my accommodations very early in the year. I normally stay at a residents house or camper. I've been real lucky to find very affordable housing with this method and I have not paid more than $50 a night. I have always place an ad on Craigslist and in detail,I explain exactly what I'm looking for in terms of accommodations.

The best part of Sturgis in my opinion is the ride to and from South Dakota. At every stop to rest or for gas, the people you meet coming to or from Sturgis is always interesting. You meet people from every walk in life from every corner of the country!

Of course, lots of sights, beer and big time fun to be had in this sleepy little town that grows to over a million people for the 7 days of Sturgis. And you can not forget about the beautiful scenery and back roads in South Dakota.
