MLB Umpire Named Grand Marshal of ND State Parade
A current MLB umpire who was born in Bismarck and grew up in Minot will be the Grand Marshal for this year's North Dakota State Parade in Minot.
Gary Cederstrom has worked as a Major League Baseball umpire since 1997. He has worked multiple playoff and World Series games and was also the home plate umpire during the New York Mets first ever no-hitter tossed by Johan Santana against the Cardinals in 2012. He was also an umpire for the 2014 MLB All-Star game at Target Field in Minneapolis.
According to the North Dakota State Parade Facebook page, the theme of this year's parade is, 'North Dakota Where Sports Shine.' The parade kicks off at 9:15 a.m. on July, 23.
