North Dakota State University and the Minnesota Twins announced on Monday that the Bison will host Butler at Target Field in the opening game in 2019.

The Bison will play six home games at the Fargo Dome in 2019, and five games on the road in addition to the home opener at Target Field.

According to a press release issued by NDSU, there are about 12,000 Bison alumni in the Minneapolis area with about 26,000 alumni across the state of Minnesota.

"The Minnesota Twins are excited to play host to NDSU-Butler at Target Field," Twins President Dave St. Peter said in the release. "The powerful tradition of NDSU football should create a special atmosphere within the ballpark. I have no doubt Bison Nation will be headquartered in the Twin Cities that weekend."

"Bison Nation is well represented in the Twin Cities," added NDSU head coach Chris Klieman.  "Having this opportunity will be exciting for our team to play in front of our fans in such an incredible venue. It will also aid us in recruiting, as Minneapolis-St. Paul is one of our most prominent recruiting areas."

The game will take place Aug. 31, 2019. Ticket information will become available at a later date.
