North Dakota Senator Makes Fart Joke on the Floor
When bills are being discussed in a state Senate or House anything can happen.
A majority of the time, things are fairly boring. Sometimes fights break out. Sometimes people say things they shouldn't say.
Other times, sometimes elected officials can be pretty funny.
While discussing bill 1191, which deals with borrowing money from a credit union or bank, Senator Howie Anderson took the microphone and had this to say:
Well Mr. President this is the third time today I've had the opportunity to speak with you and I'd like to disclose that my seatmates around here have requested that I keep these speeches short so that we can adjourn before the bowl of chili I had for lunch kicks in.
This resulted, not surprisingly, with a lot of laughter from his peers on the floor before Senator Anderson continued on with what he wanted to say.
There is video of this which you can view here.
