It started out to be an innocent meeting, the kind of meeting we've all experienced before. But this meeting turned into being held hostage against her will!

Ramsey County prosecutors say St Paul, MN resident  Ryan Marcelle Abernatha was charge with making terroristic threats and domestic assault by strangulation.

The ordeal started on Facebook, very innocently. The victim known on court papers only as "A.M.O.", endured about 10 days of physical and verbal abuse and was not allowed to leave the apartment where she was held hostage.

The charges say A.M.O. met the 40-year-old Abernatha online (adding that he seemed “nice” from his messages) and subsequently traveled by bus to meet him in St. Paul. Abernatha later told authorities that he and A.M.O. “planned to have a sexual relationship once she arrived.”

But according to prosecutors, things took a dark turn instead.

A.M.O. said that Abernatha quickly started “ordering her around,” demanded that she not say anything if they left the apartment, and wouldn’t let her eat.

During the 10 days of being held captive, the exchange become very violent where she was pushed against the wall and strangled to where she vomited. The door was blocked and nailed shut and she was not able to eat after traveling by bus from North Dakota to meet the man.
