A number of police, including the West Dakota SWAT team, converged in South Bismarck Wednesday in answer to a bomb scare and apparent hostage crisis that all turned out to be a hoax.

The Bismarck Tribune reported police responded to the 500 block of Cottonwood Loop to investigate a Skype report of a barricaded suspect.  The the male caller said he was holding his mother hostage, and threatened to do harm with weapons in his possession.

The authorities went to the supposedly barricaded home and found it empty.

The area was deemed safe and an investigation is underway to determine the source of the call.
